The Shrink Ray... Theoretically Impossible?

I was thinking about shrink rays shrinking people down to tiny sizes like in Inner Space and it made me start to wonder if it's even possible.

First of all, if shrink rays are possible, I see two ways that they could work...

1 - The shrink ray somehow manages to condense the space between the molecules or atoms within any object or living thing in order to shrink the object or living thing.

2 - The shrink ray removes unnecessary atoms or molecules from the object or living thing in order to shrink the object or living thing.

If either were possible, then in each there would be a limit to how small an object or living thing could shrink. So for instance, perhaps a human could not be shrunk to the size they are in Inner Space and still maintain the integrity of their structure.

Furthermore, 1 could only work if condensing an object or living thing in such a manner would not change the integrity of the object or living thing because if it did than you would have created a new object or living thing, not a miniature version of that object or living thing. And 2 could only work (up to a point) if there were enough unnecessary molecules or atoms in an object or living thing (if any) for the object or living thing to actually shrink.

So, it's theoretically possible that the theoretical shrink ray is impossible.

SIMON COWELL IS TOO NICE!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, I don't get it. I don't just think the other judges are too nice, I even think Simon Cowell himself is a bit too nice at times. Don't get me wrong, he can be a total ass in the words he chooses to display his dislike with, but come oooon. Most of these people SUCK!

Once again, don't get me wrong, they all sing way better than me, but I can attest that just being better than average at something is not even CLOSE too being good enough.

The contestants I've listened too I mostly would just tell straight up, "Man, you're better than me, but I can tell you right now you're never gonna make it, you're never gonna be big." So what if your voice is pretty good? If your boring and you're picking bad songs and I as a non-expert are feeling my ears getting offended by the fact that these people actually think they are good enough, then they are certainly NOT good enough.

Let's see... I listened to 12 people sing tonight and I saw potential in like TWO? I listen to these people sing these songs that I LOVE and I mostly feel like the artists are probably sitting at home crying listening to what these people do to these songs. I RARELY watch American Idol because every time I do I'm reminded of why I don't.... BORING AND OFFENSIVE (and I'm not talking about Simon Cowell's commentary :P)

A Partial Solution to the US's Problems of Peak Load Demand -AND- Obesity

I have an idea to help solve America's problems with peak power times stressing the electric grids /-AND-\ America's obesity issue AT THE SAME TIME!

Below you'll see a press release talking about how 200 people will pedal power lights in New York's Times Square on New Year's Eve. Now let's take that same idea and throw it into our homes. We can pedal up backup power to help reduce our homes' peak loads, while getting a great workout (and watching the TV, reading a book, listening to an ipod, or all three) at the same time!

Slam, bam, thank you mam, problem solved! Well... not solved, but it would definitely /help/ reduce peak load -and- give people more incentive to work out and thus become less fat, and consequently more energetic and happier (have you ever noticed actually feeling /more/ energized after a work out, not less? also, exercise is one of the three ways your body reproduces serotonin in your brain that actually makes you happier! Serotonin levels are what anti-depressants level out).

Here's the press release:

(where CAN I get one for my home though, no, really, I'm serious, I DO want one!)

Duracell Invites Consumers to Power the New Year at the Duracell Power Lodge in New York City's Times Square

BETHEL, Conn., Dec. 2, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time ever, people can honestly say they helped power the New Year. Visitors to the Duracell Power Lodge in Times Square will have the opportunity to "put the pedal to the metal" and create the energy that will be used to fill batteries and power the iconic numerals 2-0-0-9 that light up as the New Year's Ball drops and the clock strikes midnight.

To capture the energy needed to illuminate "2009," Duracell is inviting guests to the Duracell Power Lodge at the Charmin Restrooms in Times Square to hop on a snowmobike to generate power. The snowmobikes operate through rotary technology, capturing energy through the spinning wheel when the bike is pedaled. From there, power is routed into the Duracell Battery Center where it will be stored until New Year's Eve and trusted to light the night's most important moment.

"At Duracell we are always looking for new and innovative ways to store energy for consumers to power their important moments," said

Rick June, vice president and general manager, North America. "The Duracell Power Lodge is a giant example of the work we do every day. This time the battery is bigger and we're storing people power to light up the 2009 display when the world famous New Year's Ball drops in Times Square at midnight. Our guests in New York will truly be powering the New Year with Duracell."
In addition to lighting up the New Year, visitors to the Duracell Power Lodge will be able to recharge from the holiday hustle and bustle with a variety of entertainment activities. The Duracell Recharge Rest Stop allows visitors to plug-in and charge their personal entertainment and digital devices -- including digital cameras, cell phones, BlackBerrys, iPods, MP3 players and gaming devices -- by using Duracell power stations. Families will enjoy fun, interactive activities courtesy of Duracell and partners Nintendo and Mattel. Kids can enjoy multiple Wii stations and an early look at some of the hottest toys of the season, including Mattel's D-Rex Interactive Dinosaur.

The Duracell Power Lodge is being held in conjunction with the annual Charmin Restrooms in Times Square. For the third consecutive year, the Charmin Restrooms have returned to Times Square and the Duracell addition adds up to 2 floors of fun: the first for "relief" where tourists and New Yorkers alike can further enjoy the ultimate bathroom experience and the second where visitors can "recharge" their devices and their holiday spirit.

Harnessing Holiday Energy -- How It Works

More than 200 pedal hours are needed to power "2009" on New Year's Eve. Six snowmobikes, operating through rotary technology, will be on-site at the Duracell Power Lodge and available to visitors. As consumers begin to pedal, energy is captured through the wheel. The amount of energy captured is determined by the power, speed and length of the cycling. Duracell's capture and storage system is uniquely configured to harness the energy exerted while pedaling and convert it to power as it travels from the snowmobike to the Duracell Battery Center. The power will be transferred from the Duracell Power Lodge to One Times Square prior to December 31st in preparation for the New Year's Eve Ball drop festivities.

The Duracell Power Lodge and Charmin Restrooms are open now through December 31st from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday. They are located at 1540 Broadway in Times Square between West 45th and West 46th Streets. The Power Lodge and Restrooms will close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 3 p.m. on New Year's Eve, and will be closed on Christmas Day. In addition, this year, the Charmin Restrooms will also be open on New Year's Eve from 12 a.m. to 2 a.m., offering the crowd of millions in Times Square a safe and accessible bathroom haven after the 2009 Ball drops.

People. We are all just... People.

That's right.

We're all People.

Plain and simple.

Let's stop thinking of ourselves as separate, because we are one. We are all connected. Genetics has proven an "Eve." We all branched from the same original "mother." Quantum theory suggests that we are all connected at an even deeper level, on the level we cannot see, on the quantum level, a level of reality that is not even bound by the laws of the physical reality. A level of reality with endless possibilities. A level of reality where we are all connected.

We effect each other's lives, each other's thoughts, we effect the physical reality around us. We can change the laws of the physical reality around us. The power of thought is very very strong. Do you realize that on days when the global concisiousness or at least national conciousness was directed at a single event, the world actually becomes less random. Yes, random number generators will actually become less random during such events. That is how powerful we are when we focus our attention as one.

We are one.

So let's start working as one.

Let's stop thinking of ourselves as separate.

Pull us out of our institutions, all of our rules and guidelines that we are trying our best to abide by to make it through in this world, and we are all just people. People trying to get by. We are not the rules and laws of our institutions, government or corporate. We are just people, trying to make a living the best way we know how. So let's not blame each other for the way we behave at work, it's not our faults, don't get mad at the poor service rep on the phone or behind the counter. Let's understand one another, take the time to step back and see each other as people. Just another working shmoe, just like you or me.

Let's quit thinking of ourselves as separate.

Let's quit thinking in terms of Americans, Europeans, Asians, Africans, Democrat, Republican, Punk, Preppy, Goth, Emo, Old, Young, Gen X, Gen Y, and on and on.

Let's just think of each other as people.

Let's think in terms of "we" as humanity, and get rid of these notions of "Us" versus "Them."

The world's future can be bright. We can do amazing things. But only Together. As long as we fight one another, we are only holding back true progress.

Zeitgeist and Zeitgeist: Addendum

Totally crazy movies! They blew a hole in my mind! Addendum is the more enlightening one, since the first one, while accurate in some respects, does not paint the full picture and got a few things wrong or drew a few incorrect conclusions. But they're totally whacked, made me look at the world in a whole new light...

Signs the World is Ending

Beverly Hills Chihuahua

Space Chimps

Will Smith joining scientology

the fact that scientology has in fact ruined and destroyed Will Smith and made him SO not cool

the fact that Will Smith's first movie since joining scientology SUCKED BALLS

the fact that scientology now has its own commercials that eerily resemble army commercials and don't mention scientology or aliens once in the commercial but just ends with "dianetics.com" They are now trying to sucker in POOR ignorant fools!!!!

Come on people, look around, pay attention, read the signs.

The Apocalypse is nigh.

2012. The world ends.

Let's hope some of us make it through and start to make the world a better place so that the Apocalypse will just be the end of the world as we know it, and not the literal end of the world...
